Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day
Today, we celebrate Tribosonics’ female engineers and women in engineering.
This #INWED2021, we applaud our very own Sarah Sandle, non-executive Chairperson, Christina King, Chief Commercial Officer, and Habiba Lais, Technologist. They are dynamic and influential business leaders with great wisdom and insight, and knowledgeable Engineers by training and experience.

Firstly, we asked Sarah, Christina, and Habiba to share some of that insight with us to inspire future generations of women in engineering.
What role has studying Engineering or working as an Engineer played in your life?
Firstly, engineering is about solving problems. Moreover, being in an environment where I work with others to create amazing solutions to challenging problems is where I am most happy and at home.
Sarah Sandle
It’s the foundation for everything for me! Therefore, studying engineering and then working as an engineer in my early career has led me to always have engineering and technology at the core of every role.
Christina King
Engineering has given me the platform to merge all of my skills and therefore focus energy into a profession that serves a purpose larger than myself.
Habiba Lais
What are your favourite Engineering moments?
It’s the pursuit of engineering excellence! Particularly in gas turbine and power generation technologies as a result of increasing focus on environmental challenges.
Sarah Sandle
My coolest project had to be setting a world record on the ‘Speed with Guy Martin’ Gravity Racer. In addition, I worked with some fantastic engineers at Sheffield Hallam University.
Christina King
Successfully completing an industrial-led PhD with the support of inspiring mentors such as Dr Shehan Lowe and Brunel University London.
Habiba Lais
What advice can you give to other Women In Engineering?
Every day there are opportunities to follow your dreams and do whatever you want to do. I would encourage all women in engineering to seek out those opportunities, be bold, be exciting and, most of all, be yourself.
Sarah Sandle
There are so many careers that are open to engineers – find a sector you are passionate about, connect and talk to people in different roles and see what you need to do to break into that field.
Christina King
If you have any interest in pursuing engineering then definitely network/attend events and find out as much information as possible from people that are already in these roles.
Habiba Lais
Thank you to Sarah, Christina, and Habiba for your encouraging words and sharing your passion with us.
