A warm welcome to our latest apprentices!
On Wednesday 26th July, we invited our future apprentices and their parents to our HQ to learn more about what we do, what our award winning ‘Future Leader’ apprenticeship programme is about, and create an opportunity to meet some of the team that they will be working with.
Over the next few weeks, we will be welcoming 5 new apprentices – 2 engineers, 2 data scientists and a project manager – to begin their journey with us here at Tribosonics.
This year’s cohort follow some extremely talented apprentices, several of whom have won their own awards and we’re confident that our latest additions will also make an invaluable contribution to the business as we continue to grow our presence in the global sensing market.
The evening began with an introduction to Tribosonics from our CEO, Glenn Fletcher, and that was followed by a presentation about the apprenticeship scheme and tours of the offices, labs and workshops, all carried out by our amazing current apprentices; Louis Scholes, Jonty Horn, Grace Murphy and Reece Turner. The event concluded with an informal buffet and networking to allow everyone to get to know each other and ask any questions.
Philippa Takhar, Director of Operations, who organised the event said ‘We’re delighted to be welcoming our latest cohort of apprentices and wanted to help make that transition from studying to work as seamless as possible. It’s an important stage in their lives, as they are all aged between 16-18 and so right at the beginning of their careers. Our aim therefore is to set them up with a positive and encouraging experience to get them off to the best possible start. And what better way than to get our current apprentices to share their own experiences and tips on how to navigate this important time and ensure their success!’
More about our Future Leaders Apprenticeship Scheme
We’re extremely proud of our Future Leader Development Programme, which equips young talent with the skills and experience in their chosen field and starts them on their journey to become future leaders of not just our business but for industry in general. We continue to commit to this fantastic scheme to support the journeys of young people who contribute energy and drive and expertise to our amazing team at Tribosonics.
Previous members of the scheme have won awards including South Yorkshire Higher Apprentice of the Year 2023, Made in Yorkshire 2022, Enginuity Awards 2022, AMRC Apprentice of the Year 2019 & 2021. This year we have taken our existing mechanical engineering, electronics engineering and commercial apprenticeship strands and added 2 new apprenticeship strands in Data Science and Project Management, making this year our largest cohort to date.
All of our apprentices receive direct support in the form of:
1. A buddy (a Future Leader from a prior cohort)
2. A mentor (a Chartered Engineer, once on the Monitored Protection Development Scheme)
3. A line manager (a Future Leader who is 3 – 5 years into the programme)
4. An assessor (for technical pathways, this is provided by the AMRC Training Centre)
